I'm all about using natural skincare products and I love doing DIY's. The other day I noticed my pores were looking not so great and it was really bothering me, I wanted to do something about it ASAP but didn't have a pore cleansing face scrub. I looked up a couple scrubs for clearing pores online but they were all quite expensive and shipping would take way too long. So instead of purchasing a skin care product I did a bit of research on ingredients that work well to clear pores. Honey, lemon or lime and sugar were some of the top products you could find at home. So here's how I made this pore cleansing face scrub that gives you a noticeable difference with one use! Here is what you'll need: Mortar & pestle 2 teaspoons of sugar - raw or white half a teaspoon of fresh lemon or lime juice (today I used lime) 1 teaspoon of honey First step is to put the sugar in the mortar (bowl) and crush it slightly. You won't need to crush it as much if you're using white sugar because it is already quite powdery. If using raw sugar like me then crush it until it's half powdery. You don't want it to be too rough on your skin but you also need to to be exfoliating. Run it between your fingers to see if it's the right texture. After crushing the sugar it should look something like this. (Refer to photo below) Next step is to add the lime juice, I didn't measure it out but it would've been about half a teaspoon. Add a little bit at a time to make sure it isn't to much liquid otherwise it won't exfoliate your skin properly. Then stir until completely combined. I added one teaspoon of honey and mixed completely, honey is very beneficial to the skin. Honey is a natural antibacterial, slows ageing skin and creates a complexion glow. If the honey makes the mixture too runny then add a little more sugar and crush/mix. The end product should look like a paste. After I finished mixing and the scrub is the correct texture I transfer the scrub into a small tub so I can reuse in the shower. This tub was bought of eBay in a pack and is great for storing your own DIY products! And there you go! I hope this scrub works as well for you as it does for me. I'd recommend this scrub for normal to oily skin. It may be a bit drying on already dry skin, if you do have dry skin and want to use this product perhaps add a bit more honey and moisturise your skin after using.
I tend to use this product once a week and scrub only on the areas I need clearing - usually around my nose and cheeks. This homemade and completely natural product makes your skin feel clean and fresh and makes your pores a lot less noticeable. This is great because it barely costs you anything and is guaranteed to be cruelty free. I hope this helps you if you are have trouble with those irritating pores. Thank you so much for reading, leave a comment if you'd like to see more DIY blog posts and I'll see you very soon! Mia x
