This International Women's Day I want to promote gender equality, protect women and Be Bold For Change. Growing up it was obvious to me that women don't have the same rights as men. In Australia, women are quite lucky as we are a lot closer to having completely equal right compared to some other countries.
Did you know? Australia was the first country to ever give women the right to vote in federal elections & be elected in Parliament. (1902) In 2010 we had our first female prime minister, Julia Gillard. I encourage everyone reading this to take part in this IWD (International Women's Day) in any way you can. For more information on events and what YOU can do, visit the official IWD website: https://www.internationalwomensday.com/ I encourage you to challenge stereotypes like "You ___ like a girl" with responses like "Hell yeah I ___ like a girl, girls are awesome!" Take action by monitoring gender pay gaps at your current work place & challenge it! Never victim blame when it comes to violence against women. "Her skirt was too short, she was asking for it." This is not okay! Support women's charities, not everyone has it as easy as us! Showcase & celebrate women's success and support women-owned businesses. And finally, to all girls: Let's build each other up, not break each other down. I appreciate you taking the time to read this blog post and remember... BE BOLD FOR CHANGE.
