Hi everyone, welcome back to another blog post. Hope you're all doing well! My friends & I travelled up to O'Reilly's Rainforest which is about an hour drive from The Gold Coast to check out the amazing views and rainforest. The drive up is quite scary if I'm honest, you're driving up right next to a cliff without rails. The roads are usually one lane road with cars coming from both directions and when you come around a corner you have no idea if there is another car coming from the other direction. I was glad my friend drove instead of me... But it is all worth it once you get up there! They have some amazing cabins with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Perfect for a weekend away/retreat. We stopped a couple times on the way up to take photos of the stunning views. We planned to stop at the lama farm on the way up, where you can feed the lama's for only $3! Unfortunately they were closed on Tuesday's and we went up on a Tuesday. *Cries* Once arriving at the top of the mountain (to my relief as I was feeling car sick) we got some lunch at the little cafe. We all got pies but as O'Reilly's is known for their bird feeding, the birds surrounded us and were not scared to get as close as landing on our arms & heads. I usually like birds but not when they're trying to steal my food... Haha After finishing our lunch we walked over to the rainforest and followed a trail to a waterfall called Picnic Rock. After walking for quite a while we started to doubt we were going to find it. We kept following the signs but had no idea how long the walk actually was and kept thinking "Maybe we took a wrong turn..." Soon we started to hear the waterfall which gave us hope, after running into an old couple coming back from the trail assured us we were going the right way. And the waterfall was very pretty, we sat for a while and rested while snacking on Malteasers & Skittles, which was probably a bad idea because it made us feel a bit sick... Next time we'll pack proper food. The walk back seemed longer and more difficult. Especially because we were tired and now were walking uphill. But we were looking forward to getting home. The walk in the end was almost 7km which is not something I do everyday. We weren't exactly prepared for that long of a walk, wearing thongs (flip flops) and normal clothes... Despite this we did have a really good day and was good to get out and do something different. I also vlogged this day on my YouTube channel, click the photo below to check it out :) Thanks for reading, I post on here every week so I'll see you next week. Mia x
